Now here are your current selections…..

A reader from Houston wonders why Renee Zellweger isn’t on the list!
Well, Houston, we were just waiting for you to ask for her!

Renee Zellweger….
That perfect blending of talent, down-to-earth personality and lots of sparkle!

She was born Renee Kathleen Zellweger  in Katy, Texas
on April, 25, 1969 to a Swiss-born oil refinery engineer and his wife, a Norwegian nurse-midwife.

Her marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney was annulled after 6 months.

Her other beaus included Rory Cochrane (they lived together for 4 years), Jim Carrey, George Clooney, Matthew Perry and Jack White.

This very smart lady was pursuing a fine arts degree at the University of Texas when she found out she needed another credit…..so she signed up for a drama class and got hooked. While waiting for her big break, she took odd jobs including working as a waitress in a strip club. The big break didn’t come until 1996 when she got the role of Dorothy Boyd in “Jerry Maguire”.

In 2000, she won a Best Actress Golden Globe for “Nurse Betty” but when it was announced she was in the ladies room brushing her teeth.

In 2001 and 2002 she was nominated for an Oscar ( “Bridget Jones’ Diary” and “Chicago”) and finally won one for Best Supporting Actress in the 2003 film “Cold Mountain”.  Currently Renee has 4 pictures on the way, and 2 of them are slated for later this year.

Okay, Houston?

Our web designer, Glenny, wants us to put Alan Alda on the Legends list and she is so right. He belongs there. This actor-writer-director has a fantastic resume on both large and small screen as well as the Broadway stage.  So here he is….

Alan Alda…
…a multi-talented, much loved “people person”!

He was born Alfonso Joseph D’Abruzzo in New York City on January 28th, 1936. His father, actor Robert Alda (Alfonso Guiseppe Giovanni Roberto D’Abruzzo) took the family stage name from the first two letters of his first name and the first two letters of his surname…AL DA.

Alan had polio as a boy and found that a sense of humor helped during all those days he had to stay in bed.

After working with Chicago’s Second City comedy troupe, he got his first big break in 1964’s television show “That Was The Week That Was” with David Frost.

He was a gunnery officer in the U. S. Army stationed in Korea after the war there. Ironically that is where they “sent” him in the television series “M.A.S.H.” He commuted from Los Angeles to New Jersey for 11 years because he didn’t want to uproot his family. He has been married to his wife Arlene since 1957 and they have 3 children.

Alan was nominated for an Oscar for his role in “The Aviator” (2005) and has won 3 Directors Guild Awards for M.A.S.H. (1977, 1982 and 1983). But Alan’s collection of Emmys run to 6 with the latest for Best Supporting Actor in “The West Wing”.  Currently he has one film in postproduction and has script in hand for another.

WATCH OUT FOR….

Jeffrey Meek...

He has done some fine acting in supporting roles in feature films, television dramas and independent pictures. Jeff played Adam in “Night of the Cyclone” with Kris Kristofferson and Cole Campbell in “Winter People” with Kurt Russell. While he prefers stage work, he has 8 feature films to his credit and we think he looks good on the big screen.
